The Hundred-Year Darkness may be one of the most important times in the history of the galaxy. It started with the Second Great Schism. Jedi started experimenting with the force and learned new truths on how it could be used. This alchemy was used by these Jedi to create new species. These Jedi tried to persuade others that their new way would lead to galactic peace. Soon the arguments turned into an all out war. During this time, Ajunta Pall rose to power.

After a hundred years, the war was finally over. The Dark Jedi were defeated in the Battle of Corbos. The remaining Dark Jedi were exiled from the Republic. This was not the end of the Dark Jedi. The exiles landed on Korriban, where they interbred with the native Sith, and Ajunta Pall became the first Dark Lord of the Sith. This was the beginning of the Sith Empire. The successors of Ajunta Pall became known as Sith.

During this time two different prophesies were made. One was by the Jedi, and the other by the Sith. The Jedi predicted that a being would one day come and bring balance to the Force. They would be born strong in the Force, and destroy the Sith who were believed to unbalance the Force. The Sith predicted that a perfect being would rise and destroy the Sith. This, however, would cause the Sith to be stronger than ever.

On the planet of Naboo, during this time, a race of reptilian humanoids ruled the planet. These creatures, known as the Elders, built great temples to their gods. The Gungans worship the gods and they also worshipped the Elders as gods. Just before the Hundred-Year Darkness, the Elders forced the Gungans to retreat into the water. This is when the great underwater cities were first constructed by the Gungans
