Quick Facts

Planet Yavin cannot be visited in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic or the later released Sith Lords. Instead the player can visit the Yavin Space Station which orbits the planet. The Yavin Space Station is only available in the PC Edition.

History

Yavin is an orange gas giant. It's core is composed of metallic substances and pieces of carbon and metallic hydrogen that form Corusca Gems. Although mining these gems is a promising venture, Yavin is mostly known for its moon of Yavin 4, where the Rebel Alliance's base was in Star Wars: A New Hope. In the Expanded Universe, Yavin has two other habitable moons, Yavin 8 and Yavin 13. Its high pressure atmosphere and core was also used to hide the Sun Crusher for a time, a powerful weapon invented by Qui Xux.
