After escaping the Endar Spire, you'll awake in an apartment on Taris. Your new friend, Carth, will fill you in on what's going on and tell you more about Bastila. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find and rescue Bastila and return her to the Jedi enclave on Dantooine. The fact you don't know where she is, have no way off-planet and aren't familiar at all with Taris are just minor annoyances...

South Apartments

  1. Entrance to your apartment. This is where your associates hang out when not trekkin' with you.
  2. Dia's apartment. You'll come back here to fulfill one of the bounty quests given in the Lower City.
  3. Larrim's kiosk (merchant)
  4. Exit to Upper City South

Upper City South

  1. To South Apartments (your hideout). When you first leave your apartments, you'll receive a quest that will explain the Rapid Transit system. Go ahead and test it out now and get used to using it.
  2. Kebla's shop. If you have a spare 50 credits on you, go ahead and purchase a permacrete detonator. You'll need it later for a side quest (unless you're playing evil, in which case you'll just kill the guy, so you don't need the detonator...)
  3. Upper City Cantina
  4. Medical facility. Zelka will give you a quest to retrieve rakghoul serum from Sith soldiers in the Undercity. His assitant Gurney will offer you more money to sell the serum to Davik Kang, the local crime boss.
  5. Zelka's lab. Pick the lock on the door, or pressure Zelka to reveal his secret, and you'll discover Zelka is harboring and treating Republic soldiers who have crash landed on Taris. This will net you some Light Side points. If you threaten Zelka with exposure unless he pays a bribe, you'll get Dark Side points and he won't speak to you again, so get the rakghoul serum quest from him first (as a dark player, you're going to sell the serum to Davik anyway, so you don't need him after that).
  6. To Upper City North. The first time you come through here, you'll witness a shakedown right in front of the door. Help the old man out by killing the bounty hunters and you'll get some Light Side points. Give the old man 100 credits to pay off his loan to Davik Kang and you'll get more LS points. Don't worry, the bounty hunters are carrying 50 credits each on their worthless hides, so you'll break even.

Upper City Cantina

  1. Pazaak player, you can buy your first deck off the old man in the corner. Later, Bendak Starkiller will hang out in this room.
  2. Sarna is a junior Sith officer who's lonely and bored. Male PCs can be sympathetic and swing an invitation to a party where you can swipe a Sith uniform (necessary for getting into the Lower City). Female PCs will have to get an invite from a guy by the name of Yun Genda, who is hanging out listening to the band at (E).
  3. Dueling organizer. If you're combat-minded, you can try your hand at defeating five duelists. This is also the only way to score a duel with Bendak Starkiller and get his bounty. Note on Bendak's bounty: the only way to collect on this is to engage in an illegal deathmatch duel, and you will receive Dark Side points for doing so (as well as almost 1,000 experience points and a lot of credits...)
  4. Dueling arena
  5. Band. Jergen is a lech on the loose who will hit on female PCs by offering to get them backstage with the band, but male PCs get the brush-off. If you are female and give him 20 credits, he'll just disappear, there isn't even anything fun about it. Opposite Jergen is Yun Genda, a lonely Sith officer who will invite female PCs to his party.
  6. Bar. A rich, spoiled brat will cause trouble later unless you Persuade her out of it or just avoid speaking to her altogether.

Upper City North

  1. To Upper City South
  2. To North Apartments
  3. Droid shop. You'll come back here later to purchase a speciality droid necessary for breaking into the Sith base (T3-M4). Otherwise, this is just a basic merchant.
  4. To Lower City. To get past the guard the first time, you'll need to wear a suit of Sith armor. Only the PC needs to be so equipped, don't worry about party members. You can get a uniform from the North Apartments, in one of two ways (see below). Once you've traded your uniform to Gadon for Sith papers, you can freely use this elevator without wearing a uni.
  5. Sith base. Once you have rescued Bastila, met with Canderous and purchased T3-M4, you'll come here for a little constructive breaking-and-entering (get used to it...)

North Apartments

  1. To Upper City North
  2. Sarna's apartment. If you got her party invitation, walk on in, the party will be in full swing. Wait for everyone to pass out on the floor, then take a suit of Sith armor from the bag in the corner. Don't forget to loot her footlocker on the way out. If you didn't get an invitation, this room will be empty.
  3. Yun's apartment. For female PCs who received Yun Genda's invitation, the party is happening here. Same thing as Sarna's party: wait until they pass out and then snag yourself a Sith suit.
  4. If you didn't get a party invitation, you'll find this apartment occupied by an alien being interrogated by three Sith. The one by the door will tell you to move along, but, hey, when did you start taking orders from the Sith? After all the shootin's done, the alien will tell you he is stealing uniforms for somebody named Gadon, and you can loot a uniform off one of the dead bodies. If you went to the party, this apartment will just be empty.
  5. Largo's apartment. Largo is another person with a price on his head. If Light Side, you'll be back after getting more money--it takes 200 credits to buy off his bounty.
