Re: idea

wait--which one?
The new one with Logan Lerman as D'Artagnan. It was just a bad rehash of the '93 version in my opinion.

its funny because thats all it is.
I really thought it could have been way better. I wasn't expecting it to stay true to the book at all (I mean, it had airships in it ), but I was at least hoping it would be funny. It was terrible. I don't even know if it fell into the "so bad it's good" category. It was right down there with "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" it was so bad.
i think the worst writing made into a movie was Beowulf. when you think about it, the movie had nothing to do with the literature. it was just a 90% n*de Angelina Jolie.
I didn't see that one, but I don't doubt that you're right.
The movies 300 and Alexander would both fall into the bad movie category too because the true history was a lot better then the movies were.
That's true, but with 300 I think it actually worked, partly because it wasn't based on history but actually a comic book, and partly because it was obviously a stylistic work not a realistic work. There was plenty of stupid stuff in it too (LOTS of slow-mo) and the history got pretty screwed, but the whole thing was supposed to be artistic (lighting, backgrounds, costumes, action, characters, settings, etc.). Whereas Three Musketeers couldn't decide if it wanted to be a period piece or a stylistic/artistic piece. And the dialogue was crap. I mean, there is no comparison of Athos saying "It was 4 against 40. It was an off day" to any of the Spartans lines ("Tonight we dine in hell", "Then we will fight in the shade", or the ever epic "This IS SPARTA!"). I think Three Musketeers was trying to be too many things at once and just failed. Movies like 300 or the 93 Three Musketeers knew what kind of movie they wanted to be and that's why they were entertaining. Not perfect or maybe even great, but at least entertaining.

okay alexander i can understand. but 300 was pretty awesome, bro.

I know. It really disappointed me. In the book, Grendel's mother is a horrific monster. Not some beautiful, n*de goddess. And Beowulf most definitely does not have s*x with her only to end up conceiving the dragon which kills him. That's... really sick if you think about it.

Agreed. While it might not have been entirely historically accurate, like LSM said it wasn't really meant to be. The fight scenes did depict how gruesome battles were during that time period though (of course that's just Hollywood action for you these days anyway I guess...). All in all it was a good movie. Then again, I LOVE Gerard Butler. Especially a half-naked Gerard Butler.
That version of Beowulf was actually more like a cross-over between Beowulf and Oedipus Rex.
Don't get me wrong, 300 had awesome action and I liked it but when there was no action going on it get felt like it drug on and on until the next action part.
2 movies I felt had the best arrow action in them are Time Line when they called for Night Arrows. The second movie Heros with Jet Li had to parts in the movie with awesome arrow sceens and the first one was when the soldiers massed outside of the writing school and when Jet Li character was killed at the gates.
