i just tried in on a blank cd and it smudged everything and now it smellls.

I have used a lighter and it worked but only on fine scatches not the deep ones.
won't it burn the disc?
hmm i've never heard of using a lighter. i just use my shirt to get rid of scratches lol... 
i originally used my tissue at home.. :huh:
that's a classic method. spit on the disc and wipe it with a tissue...sometimes works 
No but you hold the lighter just close enough to have the disc turn a light shade of black but you should have a practice disc before you try it on a real disc.
