Re: Do I Live For Nothing
Arvisikh nods slowly. "It-sa wo-uld se-ma th-at he-s wasno-t as stro-ong as we th-oghts."
Arvisikh grabs a nearby blanket, pulling it over Rane's body. As he pulls it over the man's head, however, a strong hand reaches up, grabbing the Noghri's wrist.
Sara's gasp of surprise is audible as there is a cough from the seemingly lifeless body. "Oh... yeah?" Rane groans. "Try... me... I can... still... kick your damn ass..." he trails off.
Rane releases Arvisikh's wrist and throws the cover away from his body with what everyone can tell is considerable effort. He is still very weak from whatever ordeal he went through.
Arvisikh manages what was apparently supposed to pass for a smile. "You-sa al-ays was ase sto-born ones. I-sa sh-ood akn-own de-aths co-uld nota ta-kes you-sa so eas-ee."
Sara pulls away from Vecotr suddenly, hugging Rane with tears running down her face. "I thought..." she whispers.
Rane tenses at the physical contact that still seems to hurt but relaxes when he hears the worry in Sara's voice. "It's... all right, cyra'ika... I will never... leave you..."
"Not again..." he whispers in her ear.
Rane's eyes trail to Yi'shar and then to Vector before he closes his eyes. He hated the fact that the Jedi had seen him at such a weak point. It was an opening to push away the immovable object he was supposed to be.
He sighs, his fingers teasing through Sara's hair as he held her to him, comforted her. Let her know he was still alive. It had been so long since his last bout. But all to suddenly he was realized how quickly he could turn... how quickly he could hurt the one person he loved.
Tears burned in his eyes but he held them back. He wouldn't hurt her. Not again... not ever again.
