I believe they lost to the Rams on the last play of the game where they needed a TD and got tackled at the 1 yard line just short of their first Super Bowl.

My team has always been and is the 49er's and they look really good this year but it is pre-season but if they play as good as they have in pre-season as they do in the regural season then they will be top contenders for the SB.
