The first time I played I killed it with blaster fire and it took forever to kill it that way.

It is a good way to get XP but it takes forever to kill it but you should try it at least once.

The Rancors on the Unknown World are smaller then the one on Taris.

Rhyykol is right. When your character focuses on them as a target, there traget name does say "young rancor".

Haha that part of the game was great. The first time I tried to kill it, I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. I most definitely couldn't sword fight it! I just hid in the hall threw grenades at it when it turned around. It finally died after all my grenades were gone.
Heh... There's a datapad on the corpse before you enter the area where the Rankor is. It tells of the... stuff you have to put in the corpse pile, along with a granade.
And, Rhyykol, you need dancing lessons.
