KOTOR I is better because of the story, and the effort that the writters put into making fun levels.
KOTOR II is good because it has way better graphics, force powers, weapons, weapon upgrades, and character interaction options. The story is good but it lacks a conclusion, both in the individual character plots and in the overall storyline.

HK and T3M3 return, but the rest of the party is new. you also have some options in which ones you will get. Like playing lightside, you will get a girl character called Mira. playing darkside, you will get a wookie called Hanharr. Also, as a male you will get a female called The Handmaiden. As a female, you will get a man called The Disciple

This characters have small parts in the story and they are Carth, Malak and Bastila only HK and T3-M4 have large parts in the story and game play.

oh, wait, Canderous Ordo returns, but he is portrayed as the new Mandalore, so you never actually see his face. but it's the same voice, so you can kinda tell.

yes, but both Malak and Darth Revan appear in a vision on Korriban. It's a part of your character's trial as a Jedi
