Mass Effect did a good job in the responses your character can give, they would talk out the dialogue- like LSM wanted. For example:
Say you choose: I would like a glass of water, no ice.
Your character would say something different like: Glass of water, hold the ice.
Something like that.
** Mr. T breaks Spartan in half **
Mr. T: Mr. T will destroy you!
